Chapter One

Behind the Brand

"When we first started putting DARE® together and talking about what we wanted it to stand for, we kept coming back to the same thing. We wanted our customers to get a feel for who we actually are, and know the people who’d be taking this journey with them"

"When we first started putting DARE® together and talking about what we wanted it to stand for, we kept coming back to the same thing. We wanted our customers to get a feel for who we actually are, and know the people who’d be taking this journey with them"

Our main problem with that, was none of us really knew how to do it. Our founder knew plenty about building amazing houses but had no clue how to build a brand, and our marketing team knew plenty about building brands, but wouldn't have been able to tell you the difference between a design and a facade. It all sounds a bit like the intro to a bad joke and as much as we wish the next part to this story was about how it all came together perfectly... unfortunately this isn't that kind of story and instead of nailing our launch and making a great first impression. We decided to change our brand, logo, and business plan less than 3 weeks before we were supposed to open our first display homes. At this point, that might sound a lot like we were failing and I promise there were plenty of moments where we wondered the same thing. But now as we look back on this period, we're honestly proud of that fact that we didn't push ahead with the original plan and that we actually made the hard decision to start again the moment we realised what we weren't actually solving the problem we set out to help our customers with.

Chapter Two

Tell us what you want and we'll build it

"If you have to tell people why you're different, you're not really different. When we went out and asked the market what they wanted from their builder, we heard a lot of the same comments and more often than not it was that people didn't expect the process to be perfect, they just wanted it to be transparent."

When we went out and asked the market what they wanted from their builder, we heard a lot of the same comments and more often than not it was that people didn't expect the process to be perfect, they just wanted it to be transparent."

That's where NOTHING TO HIDE® was born and from that day forward, it's been the central point of focus for our brand and every decision we've made since. Which brings us back to the good news about now having decided what brand we wanted to put out into the world, and the unfortunately reality that we still needed to launch our public display homes in a few weeks and had nothing ready for them. Cue the team, the RedBull delivery, and the loud music. This was the beginning of what has now become infamously known around our staff group as 'the night' we built DARE®. More accurately it was the night we changed the logo, rebuilt the website, filled 3,500 litres worth of beanbags, stickered 360 water bottles, and assembled 12 umbrellas.

Chapter Three

None the Wiser

"If you'd only seen the launch day, you would've been none the wiser... And quite honestly, we weren't sure if this was a good part of the story to tell."

"If you'd only seen the launch day, you would've been none the wiser... And quite honestly, we weren't sure if this was a good part of the story to tell."

In an industry where you're supposed to be perfect and have everything run exactly as planned, it's natural to be nervous to put yourself out there and say that we didn't know how were going to pull this together. But, at the same time we want people to be able to share in the story and like we mentioned earlier that has to be mean living every decision with NOTHING TO HIDE®. So to everyone who's sent in feedback about the website, liked a social post, or enquired about a house THANK YOU. And to those who attended the Lilywood Landings launch event, we're grateful to everyone who showed up, grabbed an ice cream, or chilled out on the beanbags. We're proud to have you as part of our community and are looking forward to sharing this journey with you.
