Chapter One

Man of Many Talents

A couple weeks ago Tommy threw the first pitch at a Beenleigh Hawkes baseball game. The crazy part is that up until then, he’d never held a baseball before.

For anyone who hasn’t met him yet, Tom is the owner of DARE® and apparently a man with a pretty good arm. In a nutshell he was nervous, the pressure was on and to everyone’s surprise he absolutely crushed his first ever pitch. We should probably disclose that we had very little understanding of what we were judging, nonetheless we were very proud. Especially considering it was only earlier that day that Gareth drove around the whole Gold Coast to find a baseball, just for Tom to throw one throw straight into the skip bin and call it a day. That just about sums up the preparation for his big debut. Initially we’d only come along to grab a few stills and hopefully celebrate Tom throwing a half decent pitch, but it was everything around the game that made us stay.

Chapter Two

A Few Questions & A Side of Wedges

Naturally seeing our logo on all the jerseys was a pretty proud moment, but what we didn’t expect was how welcoming all the locals would be given we needed a fair bit of bringing up to speed. In fact, we were sitting on the sidelines asking about a million questions and to our surprise everyone was more than happy to help us make sense of it all. It was really intriguing to see people sharing a thing they love with people who are very obviously new to it.

It was really intriguing to see people sharing a thing they love with people who are very obviously new to it.

Somewhere between figuring out the rules and ordering the best wedges we’ve ever had (if you know you know), we found ourselves properly getting into it. Cheering, pointing out fouls, even picking out our favourite players. Suddenly we were whole hearted baseball fans. There’s just something about local sport that makes it so easy to get involved. It’s almost addictive, seeing a group of people care so much about the same thing. Even though everyone has their own reason for being there, for a few hours they’re all cheering for the same team. So we arrived knowing very little about baseball and left feeling like we’ve found our team.

Chapter Three

You’ve Found Your Team

That night got us thinking, most people come to their first home build having never done it before either. Sure they might have saved for years, collected a thousand inspo pictures and worked out exactly where the coffee machine will go. But the actual business of getting a home built is unfamiliar and similar to how we felt rocking up to a sport we knew nothing about, it can all feel very overwhelming at first.

Now this is the part where we make our case for why building with us is just like going to your local sports game. Because similar to all the locals that night, we care wholeheartedly. It’s no secret we put a lot of ourselves into this business, from the people we bring into the team and the way we run a build to the little details in a finished home and the personality we share along the way. We’re pretty confident that once you meet us, start asking a million questions and order the best sandwich you’ve ever had from down the road. It’ll simply stop feeling like you’re building a house and more like you’re cheering on your local team. Thanks for having us Hawkes. For patiently explaining the game, giving Tommy a shot and making us feel part of the club. We’re proud to have our name on your jerseys. That evening is how we want anyone starting their journey with DARE® to feel. You might arrive knowing very little about building, but as you meet the team, see how we work and get a feel for the brand, we hope you’ll feel like you’ve found your team. We felt that shift on the sidelines at Beenleigh, and it’s what we want to earn with every person who chooses to build with us. So when you’re ready, let us know. We’ll get your jersey ordered.
